Huge interest in the training programme
Over one hundred sport organisations have nominated their candidates for the Sport Management Training Programme. More precisely, 129 applications were received. A quarter of all candidates come from France, while the rest of them are from Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy and Lithuania.
The profile of applicant organisations’ representatives – 80,3% male – provides an insight into the current involvement of women in top positions in sport organisations. Nevertheless, with their help and support, it will be possible to make positive changes in the future.
As far as the profile of candidates, 48% are volunteers and 52% are paid staff in the applicant organisations. The average age of candidates is 39. The oldest candidate was born in 1947 and the youngest in 1997.
The majority of candidates have a higher level of education. According to the International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED 2011), 63% of candidates have Master’s or equivalent level of education (ISCED 7), while 7,1% of candidates have Doctoral or equivalent level of education (ISCED 8).
At this time, National Olympic Committees are preparing to or already conducting interviews with candidates to make a quality assessment of the candidates’ individual competencies. Candidates selected in the 1st round will have to complete the self-assessment test as the final step of the selection process.
The selection decisions will be made by the end of May. After that, partners will start with the preparations for the 1st training session that will be held on 16-23 October 2016 in Rome, Italy. The host of the training session is going to be the Italian Olympic Committee.
