Managing Finance in the Police Sport Club – Canoe Slalom
The purpose of this study is to present system of creating the financial plan for the whole year of Canoe Slalom Department of Police Sport Club when the incomes are not clearly specified from two to eleven months of the actual year.
Canoe Slalom Department begun its history in 2000 in Bratislava after the success of canoe slalom sport at Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. From the small club with very few members it continuously growth with hard working volunteers to second biggest club in Slovakia with quality athletes who continuously bring medals from Olympic games, World and European Championships.
At the beginning there was just head of the club who made all single decisions. As the Club was growing, more and more finances were invited in it and it was necessary to create the Board which thoroughly works on the yearly budget, makes plans for the whole year in advance and now all decisions coming from the Head are first discussed with the Board members.
Here we are looking for the best solution, how to prepare financial plan for the upcoming year when there are different inputs and sources every year. It has been assumed that the grant, which we are counting on, will be probably the same height as previous year. But it is needed to have a financial reserve, as the difference from year to year can be even 20%. It should be good to finish each year with profit and create a financial reserve. Or the budget should be planned from the most important costs to the less important ones. So you won’t spend on unnecessary items and wouldn’t afford what is really needed.
Organising a Major Sport Event in the Police Sport Club – Canoe Slalom
Slovak Canoeing, canoe slalom national federation, is biding every year to have the opportunity to host major sport event as World Championships, European Championships or World Cup for both Junior and Seniors. In Slovakia we have two perfect locations for hosting these great events, one course in Bratislava and one in Liptovský Mikuláš. We are one of few countries, who are constantly proving that we can manage the organisation on the top level events year after year. Once the bid for the event is confirmed, national federation decides who will be part of the organising committee and prepares the event. Legally the owner of the ICF events is International Canoe Federation, who then signs a contract with national federation who then delegates the organising committee, but legally it is national federation who is responsible for specific event.
The purpose of this study is to make decision whether or not to organise 2017 ICF Canoe Slalom Junior and U23 World Championships by canoe slalom department of Police Sport Club when there are only 5 months left for preparation.

The club gained a strong position in its national federation and its approach is important for other canoe slalom clubs across Slovakia.
In the years of the club existence, club organised great number of competitions, like Slovak Cup, ICF Ranking race Bratislava Open, Slovak Championships, ECA Junior Cup. Members of the club were part of the organising committee of European and World Championships and World Cups. What is crucial when organising an event is time, finances and good team of people. Without these, the event organisation might be very difficult and unsuccessful.
